Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS)

CARBOOCEAN operates a carbon dioxide measurement network in the Atlantic Ocean that is based on the use of commercial vessels ("voluntary observing ships") as autonomous measurements platforms. An efficient mediation of the undersampling problem in marine carbon cycle research will be achieved through the combined use of research vessels, voluntary observing ships, autonomous floats including oxygen and carbon sensors, moorings, and time series stations.
